The mission of the Cascadia Disaster Corps is to save lives. We are a group of volunteers who provide education, training, preparation and immediate rescue and relief during natural disasters within the Cascadia Bioregion.

About Cascadia Disaster Corps

Grassroots, self organized, citizen-led disaster relief.

Cascadia Disaster Corps

The Cascadia Disaster Corps Emergency Response Team program educates and organizes volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. CascadiaDC offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, which allows them to focus on more complex tasks. Through CascadiaDC, the capabilities to prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters is built and enhanced.

Why Cascadia Disaster Corps?

The Cascadia Disaster Corps steps up when the government falls down, or in the interim when citizens on the ground may need immediate help, without waiting for the response of a government thousands of miles away. We stand up for the rights and protect all of our inhabitants, citizens and communities most at risk from natural and human made disasters.

The Current Model

Local Hub

Members of our location based hubs are our front line responders, and neighborhood ambassadors. Every volunteer undergoes a basic training, and then works with neighbors to provide a strength and weakness assessment, create an emergency plan and help make sure everyone has prepared emergency supplies.

Auxillary

Auxillary Members are part of a specific area of expertise – medical, communications, drivers, infrastructure et al, who work with those other members to help provide trainings, and make sure that every local hub has the equipment they need.

Rapid Response Team

Rapid Responders are those with professional proficiency who deploy in times of emergencies.

The Cascadia Disaster Corps is a program of the Department of Bioregion, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We are now at a critical stage in our growth and are actively seeking to build relationships with partners who share our vision of citizen-led relief and who might interesting in helping to fund us.
